He is possibly a late Victorian sideboard that came to me in need of a lot of tlc which was an exciting challenge. The attention to detail throughout this project has given me great joy.
The moulded mahogany breakfront top is over 3 x central drawers and flanked by a cupboard either side with carved panel doors, each cupboard has a shelf and an internal top drawer.
The whole piece is supported on a plinth with ball feet.
The sideboard has been hand painted in 'Stormy Seas' by Dixie Belle, a blue/grey/green colour that I think is the perfect choice for this statement piece before sealing with wax.
The carved door panels have had a dark wax applied to give the carved floral detailing added depth.
The inner cupboards have been painted a light grey. The shelves, all x 5 drawers and the inner arched recess on each door have been expertly covered using Versace wallpaper. All the internal wood of the drawers have been nourished with a scented wax.
The mahogany top has been brought back to reveal the beautiful rich grain before finishing in a clear satin wax durable varnish.
The two cupboards have been fitted with concealed neodymium magnets.
New satin chrome hardware has been fitted to complete the transformation.
Whilst this piece is in solid condition please keep in mind it is a vintage piece and may show some signs of age. Though I really feel this just adds to his charm.
